Frequently Asked Questions

What is direct primary care? What can it offer my family?

Direct primary care is a membership-based model that cuts out middlemen to help us focus directly on you. It prioritizes a relationship between healthcare providers and patients and allows for longer visits and more personalized care.

What kinds of care do you offer?

We offer in-person and virtual visits as well as text medical consults with a doctor.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept traditional insurance to pay for visits or our text services. This is because insurance limits the care we can offer you as care, and our typical appointments are more in-depth than insurance companies cover. However, you can use insurance for prescriptions, imaging, and labs. Most families actually save money with our affordable membership or text plan. We work with all healthshares and even offer Zion Healthshare plans in house. We accept HSA and FSA payments.

I have good insurance. Is this model still more affordable?

Yes. We keep our prices predictable and reasonable, which makes it easier for you to plan for medical bills.

My family is pretty healthy and doesn't need to go to the doctor often. Should I still sign up?

Yes! Our text-only plan is great for families who have questions here and there but don't need to visit a doctor very often. We can help you have peace of mind about the little things, and it's only a month for the whole family.

Do you offer home visits in my area?

We offer home visits in Salt Lake, Utah & Davis County. If you live elsewhere in Utah, we also offer virtual appointments, and anyone in Utah can sign up for our text-only plan. We can send a clinical staff for home & diagnostics visits if available in your area, please inquire.

Can I meet the pediatrician before signing up?

Yes! We offer free virtual meet-and-greets so that you can talk to a doctor about your family's needs before you decide whether to sign up.

What hours is the doctor available to respond to texts?

Our text service is for non-urgent medical questions. We respond to text messages between 8am and 5pm and within 24 hours of your message. Notify us early if you suspect your child is sick or injured so we can be aware and take care of those needs first. If we do not reply within 24 hours, send another text or call the clinic.

What happens when the doctor is unavailabe?

There is a nurse who asist with questions and make sure your questions are triaged appropriately when the doctor is unavailable such as during patient visits and house calls. Higher priority texts will be answered first. If it's taking longer to get a response it may mean there are other more pressing cases in the queue, feel free to send another message or call the clinic to bring it to our attention if you need an answer faster. We appreciate your patience as we build out the best experience for all our patients.

What do you do about vaccines?

Our priority is always to do what works best for your family. If you have questions about vaccines, we will sit down with you, listen to your questions and concerns. We can provide you with up-to-date information, and we will respect the decisions you make for your family. We do provide in-home vaccines for private insurance holders and cash payers. We help uninsured families find affordable options.

Do you provide newborn care?

Yes! We offer house calls for newborn care so that you don't have to bring your baby in to the clinic. Parents of newborns also love our text plan because they can ask questions at any time without having to wait for an appointment. We also offer infant circumcisions if requested.
